About Glenda

Glenda Kirkby is a sixth generation Australian who grew up in Perth and at her parents isolated holiday house on the Moore River. Largely alone, she developed a rich imagination and awareness as she explored the river and the bush.
 
Learning to horse ride at nine introduced her to the outback when she was invited home with a schoolmate, to her family’s sheep station north of Kalgoorlie. Here her deep love of remote wilderness and thirst for adventure, grew.

At seventeen she spent a year in rural USA as an exchange student, when she travelled north to the Yukon and Alaska then south to California and Disneyland. Returning home she studied physics at UWA, but the bush was calling so she dropped out, to work on sheep stations in the Goldfields and the Murchison before returning to the city and falling into a career in computing. This led to work in Papua New Guinea, a husband and two children and more adventures.

Now retired in the southwest of WA, she writes full time of strong women and wild country while she plots her next adventure.
